A match on one hundred boards between Estonia and Latvia was held on the 24th of April in the Estonian city of Pärnu (actually near it in Paikuse). This event has a history of almost 30 years; the first such a match was held back in 1976. Since then nine more matches were fought out, but which nation is the strongest is yet to be determined.
On April 24th in Paikuse was held 10th match on 100 board between Estonia and Latvia.
Match began very equally but in the end Estonia won 59 : 41.

Four men have played in all these matches, two estonians Hugo Päären and Leo Teemäe and two latvians Valentin Kirilovs and Vsevolod Dudzinskis. First scores got Gert Elmaste (EST) and A. Pavlucenko (LAT).
Vahetult enne Eesti-Läti maavõistluse algust peeti Pärnumaal Paikusel matš selgitamaks
Eesti tänavust parimat maleklubi. 17.-20. märtsini peetud Eesti maleklubide
meistrivõistlustel kogusid MSK Kasmar ja MK Vabaettur võrdselt 13
matšipunkti, kuid järelmatš parima klubi selgitamiseks jäi toona pidamata.
Ära jäänud matš mängiti 24. aprillil Paikusel.
